Oilwell Road may be a misnomer, as it
is only drivable the first few miles and
then turns into an ATV trail. You will
find Oilwell Road by going north on the
Parks Highway, past the Talkeetna Turn
Off to Mile Post 114.9 where you will
turn left on Petersville Road. Go for
about 6 miles and turn left onto Oilwell
Road. From there it is about a good 15
miles to reach the property and one may
only be able to go less than half way
by pickup (depending upon road conditions)
and from there it is only by 4 wheel drive
- ATV.
Make sure you are confident with a GPS
so you know when to turn off to the lake
(see map). Once you reach the lake you
will see the cabin across the lake.
In the winter time it is a nice snowmobile
ride in and for you fortunate ones who
have an airplane the lake is big enough
(apr. 3/4 of a mile) for a light C-185,
Super Cub or a Beaver.
The cabin is well built on treated posts
and is approximately 28' X 32' with a
28' X 20' full loft. There are 3 bedrooms,
a living room, nice kitchen, an indoor
shower and of course, the "Outhouse".
A large wood stove and propane heater
will warm the cabin up quickly, even on
a cold Alaskan winter day.
There are big windows to open the view
up over the lake and the nice deck is
perfect for your BBQ. The cabin has a
metal roof, solar power, a generator in
its own shed, a new dock and lots of storage
under the cabin.
The place comes basically furnished and
there will be some tools and other "Stuff"
included, which is always useful at your
cabin.
There are lots of moose in the area and
one may see the occasional bear as they
cross from one drainage system to another.
Keep in mind, this is in the center of
Snowmobile Paradise and yet you have ATV
access in the summer.
All in all a great buy for someone who
wants something to move into right away
and use it within the next few weekends.
You won't be able to replace it for the
asking price, which is only $125,000.-
Seller prefers cash, but will look at
owner financing with at least 50% down
payment.
How To Locate:
Take Oilwell Road off Petersville Road,
go to Amber Lake and park there as it
may be your last chance to turn around
with your snowmobile trailer. Go straight
where the road splits for a good 2 miles.
You will come to a narrow bridge, cross
the bridge and just on top of the little
hill a trail will lead you through the
woods right to the lake. "No Trespass"
signs are on the trail. Cabin is across
the lake. In the summer, you may be able
to take your 4 wheelers right to the trail
head. But one would still need an inflatable
to cross the lake.
