West Addition Eagle Townsite, Lots 19, 20, 23 & 24, Block 43
Apr. 2/3 Acre
Although built in 1980, this house/cabin looks like it was built yesterday. It has been beautifully maintained, inside and out, and is truly one of the “The nicest” places in Eagle.
It is in town and ½ mile from the Yukon River on a hillside with beautifully maintained grounds (all the under brush has been cleared) with a Park like appearance.
The 28’ x 28’ structure is of 10” fully round, saddle notched lodge pole pine logs and was built by a master log home builder. The logs have 5/8” rods through their center and never need to be tightened again. Also, the seller applied 3 separate coats of cedar log stain, plus 2 coats of varnish. This log package was cut and manufactured in Boise, ID and shipped up to Eagle.
The inside consists of a nice modern kitchen, spacious eating area, a beautiful living room with like new Douglas Fir natural wood flooring throughout. Floors are covered with braided carpets and the logs are dusted and washed each summer, inside and out.
There is ample storage underneath the stairwell that goes to the loft (½ half of the building). The loft serves as the bedroom and has built in closets.
The kitchen has beautiful cabinets, not unlike you would find in many custom homes, with a side by side refrigerator, electric stove/oven, microwave, large deep freezer, etc.
The building is heated by a Toyo oil stove (very efficient) and there is an outside, above ground 500 gallon storage tank.
One side of the building has an 8’ covered porch running the whole length.
The building has been built on wood pilings (treated) and the underneath serves as a nice, dry storage area for some of your “Stuff”.
Then there is the beautiful “Outhouse”, about 50’ away from the cabin. For those of you who don’t know Eagle, it is well known that drilling for good water can be problematic and expensive. Therefore the city of Eagle has its own water house (see picture) where most of the residents get their water.
There is also a public shower facility (his and hers), $5 per shower. One could try to drill a well and add on a bathroom facility, but I was told it may cost as much as $25,000.- or $30,000.- for a well (or more) and no guarantee that one gets good water.
The property is served by village power and telephone. There is satellite television and one could install a 2nd dish for satellite Internet hook up (already wired).
The sales price includes, with about 5-6 exceptions, everything there is; from the 1948 1½ ton flat bed Ford F 100, total off body restoration (a real eye catcher) to 2 snowmobiles and sleds, all the high quality solid oak Amish furniture, including the Amish bedroom furniture, stereo, T.V., combination DVD/VCR player, couches, table, chairs, deck furniture, kitchen utensils, extensive Alaskan art, etc.
All you have to bring is just your tooth brush and personal items.
Eagle is located off the Taylor Highway on the Yukon River (the oldest incorporated city in Alaska). The drive from Tok is apr. 4 hours, with a large section of the road being gravel.
In the winter, the road is closed although one could travel by snowmobile. There is daily air service, almost throughout the year, from Fairbanks.
The mighty Yukon River serves as a travel corridor and one could easily venture to Dawson/Canada, Fort Yukon, etc.
There is caribou, moose and bears throughout the area and fish wheels will supply you with fresh salmon.
Truly a little paradise in the land of the Midnight Sun.
The asking price for this quality home/cabin is: $275,000
