Well, the name says it all, but I also heard that some trophy Moose came from this area, as the moose come down the mountains in the Fall. You may have an excellent chance to bag a Trophy in this area.
There are many Bear Creeks in Alaska, but this one is remote but not difficult to reach if you are adventuresome. Most locals know where Alexander Lake is, the head waters of beautiful Alexander Creek. Many a nice float trips started from there and it is only about a half hour flight from Anchorage. Snowmobile access possibly but challenging and not for the novice.
Years ago when the "Old" Trapper Cabin was built in the early 60's, but since dilapidated. At that time one may have been able to take a canoe up Bear Creek from Alexander Lake. Now the creek has quite a few beaver dams and may be impossible to get there by boat. But then some of you like those challenges and could end up with a nice parcel just surrounded by State land.
Yes, a big effort to get there, but well worth the effort for the right person.
