When the State did this subdivision way back in the 80’s, everyone thought they should have a cabin in the wilderness. Well, as it turned out, there is less than a hand full of cabins throughout the whole area and the area is still as remote and inaccessible as ever. Unspoiled wilderness and off the grid.
This is strictly a fly in only situation, with it being apr. a 45 minute flight (skis or floats) from Anchorage. If you are a great snowmobiler you can make it there, usually in the spring when the snow settles a bit. This area is known to get snow depths of 6 feet or more on the ground. So when you build your dream cabin you may want to keep that in mind.
The area is best known for its fishing; Rainbow and Salmon (hike to the Talachulitna River or Judd Lake) and there are lots of big Moose and Bears throughout the area. Truly a Hunter’s Paradise! The scenery is breathtaking (see pictures).
